Networking and Sales Expert Tish Times Reveals The Art of Selling Without Selling On Influencers Radio

On a recent episode of Influencers Radio with Jack Mize, Networking and Sales expert Tish Times discussed how entrepreneurs and small business owners can produce lucrative bottom-line results even if they are uncomfortable with selling.

Listening to Tish Times speak from the stage or learning from her training programs, one might think her confidence and unparalleled sales and networking ability come naturally. But it turns out that’s not the case at all. According to Times, she’s far from being a natural-born salesperson and actually struggled with confidence most of her adult life.

During the interview, Times revealed that she was perfectly comfortable in her job at a staffing company, working the phones from her cubicle. But it was when her boss tricked her into taking a sales position that the seeds of her systematic, sincere, and effective approach to selling were planted.

“I was really comfortable in my cubicle making phone calls for people who were looking for jobs. It was super easy for me. But I had a manager who saw something in me, and she tricked me into going into sales. She created a ‘Performance Manager’ position and said that I would be a liaison between the sales and the operation staff. The job required me to go on sales calls with the sales professionals so that I could understand what they do. Little by little, I started closing more of those sales myself.  But I realized that I wasn’t quite selling; I was just getting to know people and building relationships by being consistent and authentic…  I was really good at it. Once I figured that out, it was something that I loved to do, and I love to do it to this day.  The biggest obstacle that I had to overcome was myself, my own fears, my own mindset, and thoughts around sales”.
